This skirt pattern is continuous round. You can find the crochet stitch I used here. This is composed of
1.) Foundation Skirt and lower edging.
2.) Upper edging
3.) String
Round 1: 225 (249, 273) chains, end
with sl st to join, be careful not to twist.
Round 2: Ch4 (consider as 1st dc and 1ch), (skip 1ch, dc next ch, ch1) around, end w/ sl st to join. 112(124,136) dc.
Round 3: Ch1, sc in next 1ch sp, ch5, (skip 3sts (dc-1ch sp-dc), sc in next 1ch sp) around, end with ch2, dc in 1st sc. 56(62,68) sps.
Round 4-55: Ch1, sc in the same sp, v-st in next sc, sc in next 5ch sp, (skip next sc, ch5, skip next sc, sc in next 5ch sp, v-st in nex sc, sc in next 5ch sp) around, end w/ ch2, dc in 1st sc. 28 (31, 34) v-sts.
Round 56 – lower edging: Sl st in next dc and 1ch sp (center of v-st), ch1, sc in the same sp, (dc, picot) 5 times in next 5ch sp, (sc in next v-st, ((dc, picot) 5 times) in next 5ch sp) around. 28 (31, 34) fan design edging.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Attach the
thread in any dc, ch2 (consider as 1st hdc), hdc in next 1ch sp, hdc
in next dc, picot, (hdc in next 4sts, picot) around, end with hdc in last st
and sl st in 1st hdc.
In this string, before you complete the last fan design, you will insert the string to the dc post alternate. continue crocheting while your half string is in the skirt already. This technique will prevent you from having a difficult time inserting the string to the dc post.
Make a long foundation Chain, twice the length of your waistline, enough to wrap around your waistline and to make a knot and a ribbon. On the end of the chain, make (dc, picot) 5 times in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, sl st in the same st, (chi1, skip 1 ch, sl st in next ch) all through the ch, at the end of the string, this time you have to cut the thread but leave an allowance, enough to make a ch3, make (dc, picot) 5 times, ch3.
Now, insert the string into the dc post alternate. Be careful not to unravel the last stitch, now you crochet the 2nd end of the st, ch3, make (dc, picot) 5 times, ch3, sl st in the same st (last ch). Fasten Off.
