This Big Heart Pouch is a nice Valentine gift pouch with a big heart design.  

 


This is a free crochet pattern with photo tutorial in each step.

This is a convenient pouch which comes in handy when you need to store or take with you your Sweeht Heart Shawl, among other things.

Laying flat, the size is 6” x 8”

Girlie's Crochet

Materials Needed:

Hook: Stainless Hook US F5  /  3.75MM

Thread: Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread Fashion 3 – Scarlet,  ½ ball 75 yards


Terms Used:

All terms used are in US terminology.

Ch: Chain     ;       Dc: Double Crochet       ;       Trc: Treble Crochet      ;      Sl st: Slip Stitch      ;       Cl: Cluster   ;      Beg: Beginning     ;     Rep: Repeat


Gauge:

4"  -  21 sts / 8 rows of dc's


Stitch Guide:

Cluster: (Yarn over the hook, draw up a loop in next st, yarn over the hook, draw through first 2 loops on hook) 3 times, Yarn over the hook, draw through all 4 loops on hook: cluster made.


Big Heart Pouch Instructions:

Base:

Row 1: Chain 37,dc in 7th ch from hook, (ch1, dc in next ch) across. [16 – 1ch sp]

Row 2: Ch4 (consider as 1st dc and ch1 sp), turn, dc in next dc, (ch1, dc in next dc) across.



Pouch:

Round 3: Ch 4 (consider as 1st dc and ch1 sp), do not turn, *(side) dc in next joined dc, ch 1, sk 2 ch, dc in next st, (ch1, dc in next dc) across, rep * once more, ch 1, end w/ sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch4 to join. [36 – 1 ch sp]


Round 4: Ch 4 (consider as 1st dc and ch1 sp), (dc in next dc, ch1) around, end w/ sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch4 to join.


Round 5: Ch4 (consider as 1st dc and ch1 sp), dc in next dc, (ch1, dc in next dc) 8 times, 3dc in next dc, dc in next dc, (ch1, dc in next dc) 16 times, 3dc in next dc, (dc in next dc, ch1) 7 times, end w/ sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch4 to join.

Note: The 3dc sets are perpendicular to each other, this will be the tip of your heart, and please check all your sides count if balanced.


Round 6: Ch4 (consider as 1st dc and ch1 sp), dc in next dc, (ch1, dc in next dc) 7 times, *sk next dc, (trc, 2dc) in next dc, dc in next dc, (2dc, trc) in next dc, sk next dc*, dc in next dc, (ch1, dc in next dc) 14 times, rep *to* once more, (dc in next dc, ch1) 6 times, end w/ sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch4 to join.

Fasten off and weave in ends.


String

Make a foundation chain of 104, work (2dc-ch3-sl st-ch3-2dc-ch3-sl st- ch3-2dc-ch3-sl st) in 4th ch from hook, (ch1, sk next ch, sl st in next ch) across the string, in the end of the string work (ch3-2dc-ch3-sl st-ch3-2dc-ch3-sl st- ch3-2dc-ch3-sl st).  

Thread the string into the 19th round.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
