This is a free crochet pattern for Rheema Prayer Shawl with photo tutorial in each step. Crocheted triangle shawl from the bottom up.
Finished Measurements:
Width across upper edge : 48"
Length (unner edge to point) : 24"
For this project gauge, gauge is not important, because the width of the shawl is determined by the persons own preference. In my photo above, I just used up one skein of yarn. You can crochet as many rows as you like to achieve your desired shawl width.
Hook: 5.50MM [US I- 9]
Yarn Weight: Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Yarn Used: Red Heart Super Saver ; Spring green ; 364 yds
All terms are in USA terminology
Ch: Chain, Dc: Double Crochet, Trc: Treble Crochet, Sh: Shell
Shell: dc , ch 3 , dc in specified st.
Picot: Ch 3, sl st in top of dc.
For this project, gauge is not important
Ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from hook to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 5 (consider ch 4 as tr and ch 1 as 1 ch sp here and throughout the pattern), 7 dc, ch 1, trc in the ring.
Row 2: Ch 5, turn, sh in the same st, ch 1, sk next 1 ch sp and 2 dc, dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 1, sk next 2 dc and 1 ch sp, sh – ch 1 – trc in next trc.
Row 3: Ch 5, turn, sk next 1 ch sp, 7 dc in next sh, ch 1, sk next 1 ch sp and next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc and 1 ch sp, 7 dc in next sh, ch 1, sk next 1 ch sp, trc in next trc.
Row 4: Ch 5, turn, sh in the same st, *ch 1, sk next 1 ch sp and 2 dc, dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 1, sk next 2 dc and 1 ch sp,* sh in next dc, rep *to* once, sh and trc in next trc.

Row 7-38: Rep row 5 and row 6
Row 39 (serves as edging): Ch 5, turn, sk next 1 ch sp, [(dc, picot) 4 times, dc] in next sh, *ch 1, sk next 1 ch sp and next dc, (dc,picot) in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc and 1 ch sp, [(dc, picot) 4 times, dc] in next sh, rep * across, ch 1, sk next 1 ch sp, trc in next trc, do not cut, continue to side edging.
Side edging: Ch 1, sc in same corner st, ch 3, dc in next trc post, *(sc, ch 3, dc) in next trc post, rep * across,
At the point of the shawl, (sc, ch 3, dc, sc) in the loop, *(sc, ch 3, dc) in next trc post, rep * across the side of the shawl,
end w/ sc in last trc corner.
Fasten Off.
