Here is a free crochet pattern named after the owner of the yarn, Sugar Free Scarf.
You might learn another crochet technique on how to join crochet squares.
Special thank's to Ms. Sheila Balaquer-Laurel of Sugar Free Yarn - FiberArts. She specially mixed the colors of this yarn as a remembrance of her High School years.
You can customize the width and length of your scarf according to your desired size.
For me, I make it 4 motifs x 20 motifs a total of 80 joined motif.
The scarf consist of 80 pcs. square motifs 2.
Sugar Free Yarn: 200 grams Indophil yarn
Yarn Substitute: Light Worsted or DK yarn
Stainless Steel Hook : 0 / 3.25MM
Ch : Chain
Sc : Single Crochet
Dc : Double Crochet
T RC : Treble Crochet
Sl St : Slip Stitch
1st Motif : Chain 8, sl st to form a ring.
1st Motif - Round 1: Ch 5 (consider as 1st dc and ch2 sp), [dc,ch2] 7 times, ch2, end w/ sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch5. (8dc, 8 loops/spaces).
1st Motif - Round 2: Sl st in next 2ch sp. ch4 (consider as 1st trc), 3trc in the
same sp, ch7, 4trc in next 2ch sp, ch 3, 4trc in next sp, ch7, 4trc in next 2
ch sp, ch18.
2nd motif- Round 1: sl st in 8th ch of ch18 to form a ring, sl st up to 3ch of ch18 (consider as 1 st dc), ch2, [dc, ch2] 7 times, end w sl st in 1st dc to join.
2nd motif - Round 2: Sl st up to 4 th ch of ch18 (consider as 1st trc), 3 tr c in next 2ch sp, ch3, sl st in 2nd corner – 7ch sp of 1st motif, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp of 2nd motif (1st corner), ch3, 4tr c in next 2ch sp, ch7 (2nd corner), 4tr c in next 2ch sp, ch18
Repeat the instruction on 2nd motif - Round 1 & 2 of your desired width
Last Motif - Round 2: Sl st up to 4th ch of ch18 (consider as 1 st trc), 3 trc in next 2ch sp, ch3, sl st in 2nd corner – 7ch sp of previous motif, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp of last motif (1st corner), *ch3, 4tr c in next 2ch sp, ch7, 4tr c in next 2ch sp, rep * 3 times,
ch1, sk next trc, sl st in next 3ch sp, ch1, 4trc in next 2ch sp of previous motif, ch3, sl st in ch7 sp of last corner of last motif, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp,
**ch3, 4tr c in next 2ch sp, ch7, 4tr c in next 2ch sp, ch1, sk next trc,sl st in next 2ch sp, ch1, 4trc in next 2ch sp of next motif, ch3, sl st in ch7 sp (last corner of prev motif), Rep** across , ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp, do not cut.
Start next rows of motif. Ch22
2nd Rows of Motif
1st Motif Round 1: Sl st in 4 th ch of ch22 to form a ring, sl st up to 3ch of ch22 (consider as 1 st dc), ch2, [dc, ch2] 7 times, end w sl st in 1st dc to join.
1st Motif Round 2 : Sl st up to 4 th ch of ch22 (consider as 1st trc - leaving 7ch for corner), 3 trc in next 2ch sp, ch1, sl st in ch3 sp of 1st motif, ch1, 4trc in next 2ch sp, ch3, sl st in next joined corner motif, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp, ch18.
2nd Motif Round 1: Sl st in 4 th ch of ch18 to form a ring, sl st up to 3ch of ch18 (consider as 1 st dc), ch2, (dc, ch2) 7 times, end w sl st in 1st dc to join.
2nd Motif Round 2: Sl st up to 4 th ch of ch18 (consider as 1st trc), 3 trc in next 2ch sp, ch3, sl st in next joined corner motif, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp, ch1, sl st in next 3ch sp, ch1, 4tr c in next 2ch sp, ch3, sl st in next joined corner motif, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp, ch18.
Repeat the instruction on 2nd Rows of Motif 2nd motif - Round 1 & 2
Last Motif - Round 2: Sl st up to 4th ch of ch18 (consider as 1 st trc), 3 trc in next 2ch sp, ch3, sl st in next joined corner motif, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp, ch1, sl st in next 3ch sp, ch1, 4tr c in next 2ch sp, ch3, sl st in next joined corner motif, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp,
*ch3, 4tr c in next 2ch sp, ch7, 4tr c in next 2ch sp, rep * twice, ch1, sk next trc, sl st in next 3ch sp, ch1, 4trc in next 2ch sp of next motif, ch3, sl st in ch7 sp (last corner of prev motif), ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp , **ch7, (last corner of the motif), 4trc in next 2ch sp, ch1, sk next trc, sl st in next 3ch sp, ch1, 4trc in next 2ch sp of next motif, ch3, sl st in ch7 sp (last corner of prev motif), ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp, ch3, 4trc in next 2ch sp, rep** accross, do not cut off.
Start next rows of motif. Ch22
Repeat the instruction on 2nd Rows of Motif - Round 1 & 2 of your desired length
On the last corner motif, just continue the remaining instruction for Round 2 to complete each crochet motifs.
On the last motif to be complete, use dc to join instead of ch3 as shown on photo below. Do not cut, continue to Sugar Free Scarf Edging.
Round 1: Ch1, sc in the same dc post, ch3, sk next 3 trc, sc in next trc, ch3, sk next 3ch of 7ch sp, 3sc in next ch (corner), ch3, sk next 3ch of 7ch sp, sc in next trc, ch3, sk next 3 trx, sc in next 3ch sp, *ch3, sk next 3 trc, sc in next trc, ch3, sk next 3ch of 7ch sp, 3sc in next ch (joined corner), ch3, sk next 3ch of 7ch sp, sc in next trc, ch3, sk next 3 trx, sc in next 3ch sp, rep * around but having 3sc in 4 corners of the scarf, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 2: Ch1, sc in the same st, Ch3, dc in the same st, sk next 3ch sp, *sc in next sc, Ch3, dc in the same st, sk next 3ch sp, rep * around, note: on 4 corners - (sc in next sc, 3sc in next sc, sc in nextsc), end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.
Fasten off.
Put tassel in both ends.
