This is a free crochet pattern for Susie Prayer Shawl with photo tutorial in each step. This prayer shawl is crochet from bottom up with 3 rows repeat. This pattern is easily modified according to yarn and hook size you use.
This Susie Prayer Shawl pattern is dedicated to a family matriarch who just recently celebrated her 100th birthday. This was our family's gift to my husband's Auntie Susie.
When my husband told me about this celebration last year, I was complacent and said I had time. Then the holidays came around and the schedules got tight and next thing you know I had no more time to create a new pattern for this shawl so I just looked and did a bit of research over the net for a shawl stitch that was easy to remember and quick to finish.
Here is a written pattern of a shawl inspired by a diagram from
She offered a lot of triangle shawl patterns but instead of written it was in diagram format. This written pattern was created by me following the diagram pattern. Since the pattern shawl is slanting, all beginning dc is substitute by ch 4 instead of a regular ch 3, this is to prevent your shawl side to be stiff at the end of the project.
